About Travel – Tbilisi Airport (TBS)

Tbilisi Airport (Georgian: თბილისის აეროპორტი) is the main international airport in Georgia, located 17 km (11 mi) southeast of the capital Tbilisi.

The airport is operated by the Turkish airport operator TAV Airport Holdings and hosts over 20 airlines. It is also a hub for national airline Georgian Airways.

From Tbilisi, destinations across Europe, the CIS and the Middle East are served. The airport was renovated in 2007 and its passenger handling capacity increased to 2.8 million per annum.

In 2011 the airport was awarded with the Golden Brand Award in the Transportation and Service category in the annual Golden Brand Ceremony, famed as the Business Oscars in Georgia.

The renovated terminal building has five passenger departure gates, 30 check-in counters and three baggage claim carousels.

The terminal is bright, clean and efficiently run. Passengers have to pass through security checks before entering the terminal, enhancing security. Queues are usually short at passport control and baggage retrieval is generally quick.

The terminal has a food and beverage area, gift shops and a duty free shopping area with three stores.

Other passenger facilities include an information desk, lost luggage office, banks and currency exchange offices, plus a medical point.

Tbilisi Airport Taxis

Taxis – A taxi service is available outside the Arrival Hall. The journey time to the city center takes 20-30 minutes dependent on traffic. At the time of writing, the taxi fare is 20 GEL from the airport to the city center.

Buses – Regular buses stop at the bus stop in front of the Arrival hall. Municipal Bus #37 serves the Airport-Tbilisi city route. At the time of writing, the one way fare is 0.50 GEL

Train – The Airport railway station is located 70 meters from the airport terminal and connects the airport with Tbilisi Central Railway station (Georgian: ვაგზლის მოედანი). The Georgian Railway train timetable can be found here. Do check train times before you travel as they may be subject to change.
