About History – Tourism in Georgia in Soviet Times
During the Soviet era, Georgia was the “Riviera of the Soviet Union”, with 3 million visitors annually.
Georgia appealed to Soviet tourists because of its sunny weather, its culture, wines and food, health spas, beaches and skiing.
Tourism was centrally planned and the market was monopolized by Intourist, a state owned tourism agency that arranged all holiday bookings, itineraries and accommodation.
Despite Georgia’s popularity as a tourist destination, the republic reaped few benefits because most hard currency earnings from tourism went to Moscow and because Soviet tourists paid little for their state-sponsored “vacation packages.”

I love the Soviet era posters. Is it possible to buy an original one ?
Thank you !
Are these old posters or current ones? Either way, they’re beautiful!
The posters are old Monica. From the 1930s onwards.
Love it! I also have some old Soviet posters on my blog. Thanks for sharing!
