About Food – Chicken with Sour Cream and Spices

Sour cream is used extensively in Georgian cuisine. In this family recipe we show how to make chicken with sour cream and spices.

Chicken with Sour Cream Ready for Serving

Ingredients: 700 grams of chicken breasts, 2 large onions, 50 grams of butter, 5 tbs of oil, 500 grams of sour cream, 200 ml of water, 1 tbs of black pepper, 5 cloves of garlic, 25 grams of fresh green coriander, salt (amount dependent upon personal preference), 1 heaped tsp of dried marigold and a half a level tsp of cloves.

Preparation: Add 5 tbs of oil, 50 grams of butter and 1 heaped tsp of dried marigold to a pan. Heat on a medium temperature.

Melting Butter

When the butter has melted add the chicken pieces and continue to cook on a medium heat for 10 minutes..

Frying Chicken in Butter

Slice the onion and add to the pan. Stir and cook for a further 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Adding Onions to Chicken

Crush the garlic.  Turn off the heat. Add the garlic to the pan, together with 500 grams of sour cream, half a level tsp of cloves, 1 tbs of black pepper, and salt (according to taste).

Stir thoroughly and then gradually stir in 2oo ml water. Cook on a medium temperature for 2 minutes.

Add chopped coriander.

Stir and leave for 2 minutes and then remove from the heat.

Serving: Serve hot.
