About News – Georgia Remembers Fallen Heroes

The Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili together with the Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II were in Mukhatgverdi cemetery on the outskirts of Tbilisi today to pay tribute to Georgian military personnel who died in the 2008 conflict with Russia.

168 members of the armed forces, 16 police officers and 188 civilians were killed in the conflict.

    So very sad that there are wars. If there is anything I would come near to hating it would be war. In my opinion we can never honor and show respect enough to those who go to war to help keep us all safe and free. These pictures are fantastic! Hugs

  3. A big Salute to those brave, fallen patriots! God Bless them and their families. While not Georgians, we honor these brave ppl who fought for freedom and paid the ultimate sacrifice.

    2008 is not long time ago…….only 4years has passed… Georgia looks very peaceful country now but has very sad experiences in past….those number of people who lost their precious lives are quite huge…very sad….
    I hope you never have these terrible conflict in Georgia…
