About Achievements – “Smiling Georgia”

In August 2012 a program called “Smiling Georgia” started bringing dental care to areas of the country that do not have dental clinics. Dentists are now able to travel to villages and provide a full range of dental care from fully equipped mobile dental treatment buses. The service is free to people over the age of 50.

“When a person has dental problems they can lose motivation to go outside, work and smile. This is a very tough social issue because dental care is unaffordable for many as it is often not covered by medical insurance. State investment is very important because each family has to have access to necessary dental services” – said the President of Georgia, the initiator of the program.

The introduction of mobile dental treatment buses will assist development of the dental sphere in the regions of Georgia and make dental care accessible to many people.

  1. Such a good idea. Although I’ve always hated dentists, seeing the state of teeth in Georgia has made me thankful for the dental care that was forced upon me as a child…

  2. COOL!!!!!! What a great idea! :)

What a wonderful service! I would love to see something like that here. Georgia is a wonderful place that really cares for their people. What a wonderful world it would be if all places would be so caring. Hugs
